Tove Lo – "Talking Body" on Letterman
Another exciting opportunity to design a performance lighting look for The Late Show with David Letterman, this time for Tove Lo.
This one was a challenge—less than a week to prep, no prior meetings with the artist, and the typical Letterman workflow: a short afternoon rehearsal (about three run-throughs), plus a four-hour morning load-in and tech window. With limited time, we had to hang projectors, trace out the set, and dial in the look fast.
The lighting was all about balance—a mix of dim tungsten warmth and cool moving light tones, with the projector blacked out in the front and a bright blue reflective floor to amplify the club aesthetic. We also pulled together a last-minute cast of NYC dancers to complete the vibe Tove was after.
Huge shoutout to the CBS team—absolute pros and a joy to work with. The goal was to create something fresh for Letterman while staying true to the club energy of the official video. Mission accomplished.
